What We Do

Research

This is where it all starts. This is where we are answering the question of WHY? Why is this product needed and why are we a good fit to be your partner. We look at the market, competitors (if there are any) and ask ourselves how can we make things better. We brainstorm, we sketch, we prototype initial ideas and present you with our findings. We ask a lot of questions to get to the essence of the idea and its viability. The end of this milestone is a detailed report and product brief that allows us to move to the next stage.

Design

As research is the why, design is the WHAT. What does the product look like, what does it need to do, what does it look like, feel like and what is it made of? We provide you with several different concepts to consider, some traditional as well as those outside of the box. We often find that there is something in those left field ideas that can be picked out and worked into the design that you want. We work with you through the design stage up to the point that we have an approved design. What design gets you is the plan.

Development

This is the HOW of the process. How are we going to get it made? How do we keep all the features and how do we make sure your idea is still your idea. Truth be told, during development things can look ugly before they look pretty. We build and tear down and rebuild, and repeat. We are testing the product, the concept and how to manufacture. Sourcing, regulatory research, material validation are all a part of this process. If design is the plan, then this is the detail.

Engineering

Which way is best? That’s the question we answer in the engineering phase. This is where design from manufacturing really comes into play. Does this need to be tooled, CNC’d or casted? We work with you and your budget to find the best way to make the product cost effective, viable and producible. Your product is put into manufacturable files where we run simulations, stress tests, mold flow analysis and more. Engineering ends when all questions have been asked and most have been answered.

Prototyping

We are constantly prototyping throughout all stages of the process, getting out from behind our computers and putting real world, hands on knowledge to the test. We balance our prototyping between our New Orleans studio and our development studio in Dongguan, China. This stage of prototyping, though, is where we give you as close to production level quality as possible. We test these prototypes to failure so we will know what awaits during production. Prototyping sometimes brings more questions and sometimes it takes making it to know the answers.

Manufacturing

Within our facility we are able to offer short runs of production, but we also have partnerships with a wide variety of mass scale production facilities globally and we will work to find the right fit for your project. As a company we work with you through to your first run of manufacturing, ensuring that you have a relationship with the factory you will work with going forward and that you are comfortable managing your business with them. We are transparent with every partner we work with, we don’t build in additional fees or hide contacts. Our goal is getting you set up for manufacturing success.
